The Acolyte
Summary
Star Wars : The Acolyteshowrunner Leslye Headland provides raw penetration into the account of the Force vergence on Brendok . The vergence discussed in episode 7 , " Choice , " is the reason the Jedi were on Brendok sixteen years ago , and is seemingly tied to the extraction of twin sisters Mae and Osha . The vergence could explicate why there is life on Brendokdespite the major planet being catalogue as lifeless after the Great Hyperspace Disaster , an event with galaxy - full consequences inThe High Republicbooks and comics .
In a roundtable discussion partake in byStar Wars Explained , Headland was require whether more about the civilization that used to exist on Brendokwill be revealed . While there is botany , animals , and insect on Brendok , it looks like devoid of any civilization until the Jedi learn of the witch coven that settled there in an abandoned mining facility . This raise interrogative about the nature of the vergence and the civilization of miners that used to live on the major planet . Check out Headland ’s response and the video recording below :
It ’s intend to be a bit mysterious . I can tell you what my opinion is , which is that I think the catastrophe oddly did n’t disturb the planet , which is why they ’re there . They ’re essentially lost as to what this major planet was categorize as , and yet there is life here , there ’s vegetation develop , there ’s birds , there ’s animals , there ’s exotic butterflies , so understandably it ’s not lifeless , and distinctly they need to go and foregather all the information that they can . There should n’t be anyone here .
There is the added element that there is n’t a civilisation here any longer . When Torbin says that the coven ’s domicile is an old minelaying facility that ’s been abandoned , including the generator they find and all those other thing , it ’s my belief that it ’s actually the vergence on the planet that has destroyed that refinement or caused that civilization to transmigrate , meaning that if I were to explore it further , it ’s a bit like the John Carpenter ’s The Thing where there were these miner there , everybody ’s working , and they stumble something , and of a sudden everybody ’s gone . So they ’re looking for a vergence for the main intellect which is that it would explain why this major planet survived . But what I imagine they do n’t know see is that that might also be the reason why it ’s no longer inhabited by its biggest civilization .
The Force Vergence Could Be Why Brendok Was Uninhabited
It Can Explain What Happened To The Mining Colony There
Based on Headland ’s explanation , the Force vergence seems to be a doubly - edged sword that revitalize Brendok while also pretend it uninhabitable for its previous civilisation . The Force vergence allow for living organisms to thrive on Brendokwhen life should not have been capable to live there due to the effects ofthe Great Hyperspace Disaster . At the same time , the vergence unleash harmful and potentially lethal effect that either killed the miners live on the planet or at the very least cause them to disappear .
The Great Hyperspace Disaster occurs in the novelLight of the Jediby Charles Soule .
The vergence on Brendok also seems to be wed to the witches creating Mae and Osha , as the girls were created without a father and through the Force itself . After the Jedi take a sample distribution ofMae and Osha ’s parentage in " Choice , " it is later revealed that they have superposable Force symbionts , meaning they are one consciousness split into two individuals . In this way and more , the vim of Brendok ’s vergence is deeply consequential to those who encounter and manipulate it .

With so many part and plotlines to cover and solve inThe Acolyte ’s closing curtain , the full story of the Force vergence andwhat occur to Brendok ’s dependency of miners in all likelihood wo n’t be addressedby the final stage of the time of year . This is partly by design , with Headland making it clear that she wants the vergence to be somewhat orphic . Nevertheless , her interpretation does allow for further clarity to its power and its grandness inThe Acolyte ’s intriguing narrative .
