In an effort to find his anonymity , Parker plow to Doctor Strange ( Benedict Cumberbatch ) for a spell to erase everyone ’s memory so they ’ll draw a blank they learned that he is Spider - Man . This does not end well for them , as it opens up the multiverse , bringing inSpider - Manvillains from premature Sony movies . In terms of the merchandising , it seems like Doctor Strange will play a large part in the flick . He has been in every trailer and many of the posters and TV slur , so having this poster focus on an significant panorama of Strange ’s character makes sense . Of course , he could have a role like Tony Stark inSpider - Man : Homecoming , where he did not have a magnanimous amount of screen time , but his presence was mat up throughout the film , affect Parker and the events that play out over the course of the runtime . He is also the one who casts the go land in the multiverse scoundrel and the rumour Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield iterations of Spider - Man , so his orotund focus also marry into that . Parker will seemingly be come in the Mirror Dimension , but it is unclear why just , except that it will be because ofhis involvement with Strange .
