Daemon Targaryen’s Hallucinations In House Of The Dragon Explained

What They Represent For Matt Smith’s Character

Though theHouse of the Dragonseason 2 reviewshave been glowing , Daemon ’s tenure at Harrenhal is becoming a possible point of critique . The grapheme has now spent several episode in the old castle , seeing various material body from his past with comparatively small forward story momentum , at least comparative to the effect going on in the rest of Westeros . While these criticisms are for sure valid , there ’s no deny that Daemon ’s sentence at Harrenhal has been part of a mystifying exploration of this highly flawed character .

Harrenhal has always been a location immerse in mystery and magic , and the position itself is doubtless why Daemon is losing time and seeing figures from his yesteryear . From a character linear perspective , these hallucinations are part of Daemon reckoning with his retiring determination and error . His vision of Rhaenyra ( Milly Alcock ) tailor-make Jaehaerys ' head back on , for illustration , is potential a result of his guilt at sendingBlood and Cheeseto murder a kid , with Rhaenyra then taking the rap .

Daemon ’s vision in House of the Dragon season 2 , episode 3 & 4 revealed some coarse truths about the Targaryen prince and teased major future consequence .

Paddy Considine as King Viserys in House of the Dragon season 1

Viserys ' return is also colligate to Rhaenyra , asDaemon always felt betray that she was chosen as Viserys ' successor and not him . Daemon ’s tone regarding Rhaenyra , in general , are very complicated , as he has always had with child love life for her , but resents that she was chosen as the heir to the Iron Throne . While it does n’t sound like Considine ’s Viserys will be appearing again inHouse of the Dragonseason 2 , the character ’s return is plainly part of a big geographic expedition of Daemon ’s inside turmoil .
