Cox was also one of the main stars ofThe Defenders , a series that united all the lead of Marvel ’s Netflix library . However , despite immense fan backup , the 2018 cancellation ofDaredevilput Cox ’s future as the blind vigilance man on hold .
Then , Spider - Man : No Way Homehappened . Throughout the plastic film ’s product and in the jumper lead - up to its release , Cox was heavily rumored to make another show as Matt . Like Andrew Garfield , he deny it , but also like Garfield , there were leaks that hint at his persona . No Way Homethen premier in December and revealed Matt to be Peter Parker ’s ( Tom Holland ) attorney for the aftermath of Mysterio ’s ( Jake Gyllenhaal ) sovereignty of scourge . Since then , Cox has confirmed he knows there ’s somethingnew coming for Daredevil in the MCU , though it is n’t yet clear what that something is .

Leaks apart , Cox’sNo Way HomeDaredevil cameo was kept tightly under wraps before the film premier . Cox himself was careful about who he tell , though there was one person he was able to reach out to ahead of time on : Fellow MCU alum Tom Hiddleston . Speaking toComicBook.comabout his AMC+ seriesKin , Cox revealed he called Hiddleston to talk over hisNo Way Homerole . It was during that call when Hiddleston advised him to sneak into a screening so that he could enjoy the consultation ’s reaction to his cameo . Cox said :
" One of my first phone calls , when I found out I was coming back , even though I was adjudicate not to tell anyone , I was living in concern for two age of it being leak , it was this vainglorious surprise . When I was on the bent I was wearing the affair everywhere , blah , blah . One of my first earpiece calls , and I have sex I could tell him because I also knew he knew , was Tom Hiddleston , he ’s one of my best friends .
" He said to me , and he was photograph Loki at the time , so he ’d speak to those guy , and he knew , and they knew we were supporter , and all that clobber , so he be intimate about it . I spoke to him , and he said to me , ' Whatever you do , when the film comes out , you ’ve got to creep into the back of a theater , because it will go crazy . ' It ’ll be nice to be there , but I think he ’s mean what it would be like for Loki to appear in that moment , where the Loki fan base is unlike anything I ’ve ever seen in my living . "
Cox was finally persuaded to slip into aSpider - Man : No agency Homeshowing , but it sadly did n’t go the way others promised . Cox say the theater was utter still for his cameo , even though other showings had ecstatic response . It ’s a shame the experience was n’t as he had hop , but hopefully now he can see that there are many Marvel fans who are happy he ’s back , even if they obviously were n’t at that special cover .
Though they are both MCU stars , Cox and Hiddleston occupy vastly different areas in the franchise . Interestingly , the two starred in the playBetrayalin 2019 alongside Zawe Ashton , who will make her own MCU debut next year inThe marvel . Hiddleston hasseason 2 of his Disney+ seriesLokito look forward to , as well as a rumour role in May’sDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . As for Cox , Spider - Man : No Way Homedoesn’t yet seem like the ending of the agate line for him , but sports fan will have to wait and see exactly what is next .
