Cha Cha Real Smooth

Cha Cha Real Smoothis a charmingly simple film that pinch up on audiences in its handling of character relationships . It ’s a testament to writer - director Cooper Raiff , in his third characteristic cinema outing , that he can detect genuine profundity in a assumption that does n’t seem like it will illuminate all that much . With a wild cast at the center , Cooper Raiff’sCha Cha Real Smoothis magical , ship’s boat , and incredibly sincere in its execution .

Andrew ( Raiff , extract triple tariff here as the lead actor too ) is a recent college graduate who is more than a picayune lost in living . Having a degree in manus does n’t mean one has any of the answer to living or what ’s next on the journeying . Andrew moves back home and gets a chore at a fast food for thought restaurant . However , after attending a bar mitsvah and break to great lengths to ensure everyone has a good time , Andrew is recruited to become the community ’s official company starter . Raiff portrays Andrew as a genuinely caring , sensitive cat . He offers advice to his immature pal David ( Evan Assante ) on first kisses , wants the best for his female parent ( Leslie Mann ) , and showers Domino and Lola with kindness . Even though it ’s obvious Andrew feel something for Domino that goes beyond the help of a ally , Raiff ’s writing and portrayal of their budding relationship is thoughtful and heartfelt , never veering into creepy-crawly or uncomfortable . His comedic timing is also   wonderful and he diffuse Andrew with an awkwardness that is the right amount of realistic without being over the top . Dakota Johnson as Domino is the opposite , and the actress showcases these divergence by appearing composed , though her expressions and affectional eyes give way to something mysterious . The supporting casting is excellent , building out a community of characters who are memorable and magnetic .

Domino and Andrew ’s kinship is an interesting one . They ’re both lost in their own respective way . Domino is terrorize of dedication because of her past and , despite being charter to Joseph ( Raúl Castillo ) , there ’s a sense of exemption and safety she finds with Andrew ; meanwhile , Andrew is trying to figure out what he desire to do in life sentence and where his path will take him after college . In that respect , the pair ’s dynamic works on various levels . Their attraction to each other makes thing a morsel complicated at one item , but Raiff explore the complexity of their relationship and as individual in way that develop both of them in an authentic way .

Cha Cha Real Smoothis , above all , a devout film about self - discovery and the hoi polloi who make an impact on one ’s biography despite not becoming a permanent secureness in it . Raiff deftly palm Andrew and Domino ’s journeys and there is never a instant that feels disingenuous or contrived . The interpersonal development and drama , the lessons learned and the outcome , are all earnest , thoughtful , and heartwarming in ways that will make the audience finger the profundity of the character ’ emotion . Raiff captures how relationships can flower through connection and how affecting they can be when the two people in doubt are both trying to take the next steps in their life sentence but are not quite sure how to do it . To that end , Cha Cha Real Smoothis a triumph in its exploration of its characters , and the honesty it brings to the vanguard .
